Welcome to the Marin Holistic Care Centers

A Local Collaborative of Holistic Healthcare Providers

David Kitts, a local Licensed Acupuncturist for more than 23 years has launched a solution to health and healing during today’s tough economic times. Mr. Kitts has enlisted health and wellness practitioners for the purpose of offering their services at a fraction of the standard cost in the "Marin Holistic Care Centers".

“Ironically, during times of stress, people tend to stop their ‘wellness’ and preventative therapies when they need them most.” says Mr. Kitts. “I had this idea that wouldn’t go away: Holistic Health professionals collaborating to create a network of local healthcare centers that are financially accessible to the average person. Our centers now offer shorter sessions at low prices so that people still have the healing treatments they need without extra financial burdens. I think this simple idea can create communication and cooperation among the many talented and yet isolated professionals in the county. My bigger vision is that we create a health consortium the public can purchase memberships in. This organization would allow people access to healthcare that helps them to stay well, reducing the occurrence of expensive health problems. This could be a valuable support for people who have had to reduce their traditional coverage to the bare minimum with high deductibles for financial reasons.”

Andrew Rader L.Ac., a provider in the collabortative says: “I was inspired by Lisa Rohleder, L.Ac., author of 'Working Class Acupuncture'. When she considered starting her own practice she knew that her family and friends were too proud to seek free care and couldn’t afford the normal rates, so she came up with 'The Working Class Acupuncture Clinic' in Portland, OR.” David and Andrew salute the many other acupuncturists that are already participating in the affordable acupuncture model (many of them full-time) and encourage you to go to them if they are local to you! In Marin, these include: Community Acupuncture of San Rafael http://www.communityacu.com Community Acupuncture of Novato: http://www.healingartsofmarin.com/communityclinic.htm.

Andrew and David’s dream took form, following the model of the Working Class Clinic when they offered “$20 dollar clinics” in Fairfax and the San Geronimo Valley last May. David now has one at his office in Corte Madera as well. The Centers are “drop in” style. No appointments are taken, and patients are served on a first-come-first-serve basis in one large room.

The first multi-disciplinary Marin Holistic Care Center opened its doors on March 3rd, 2009, at The Common Well Holistic Center Clinic at 85 Bolinas Road, Suite #8, in Fairfax. To see the schedule services offered there, click on the link at the top of the page.
